So it´s FALL over here and Spring over there… While you guys are celebrating the Brazilian sunlight and heat approaching (I checked the weather in Curitiba and it was supposed to be 24 Celsius today, really?) we are missing summer already, running to the closest Starbucks to get a hot drink, while trying to get used to the Canadian “breeze” (all over again)!
I wondered what fashion trends are going on there in Brazil right now and how close they would be to what we just had over here in Toronto for the summer.
After doing some research, I found quite a few similar things, like black and white, cropped tops all over the place (still!), sporty-chic and pastel colors.
So I thought I´d share with you 3 of my favourite fashion items from the Canadian summer style (my first ever!), so you can compare, take a peek ahead of time on what´s probably coming your way and get inspired to create your own looks (and then tell all your friends, who will all wonder why you´re predicting everything right all of a sudden, are you a fashion guru now?).
Here they are:
1) Navy Blue Stripes

I saw stripes everywhere this Summer! The streets of Toronto were packed with them! Skirts, dresses, shirts, t-shirts, shorts, bags, wallets. All you can possibly imagine. There were also some black and white items, but navy blue stripes were definitely a hit. I would suggest a striped item to your closet, it´s easy to put on a classic, stylish look in minutes with stripes and jeans, white, or beige ( or altogether!).
Also, it´s quick to go from casual to chic, just by changing shoes (bring it on, high heels!) and maybe adding some accessories ( large piece necklace or earri
ngs).
I´m sure you´ll have plenty of ideas, share them with me (will you?) and let me hear your thoughts on this one… A cute hat matches perfectly by the way.
2)Guys wearing Khaki pants
Khaki is not a big colo
r in Brazil. Especially for men! But it seems to be a thing here (at least it was this summer), and you know what? I actually liked it!
I found guys are a lot more stylish here (“my guy” fits right in… 😉 ), and if you match khaki pants with the right shoes and shirt color, like a white shirt or a navy blue jacket (hello ” navy blue again”), it actually looks pretty stylish! (Nothing like white sneakers to stand out too!) How would you have ” your man” wear it?
3) Romantic/Hipster Syle
I found lots of people on the streets with this romantic/hypster (that´s how I call it!) floral look… It´s a mixture of old and new, young and cool… I hadn´t seen it so much in Curitiba in the past and I just felt in love with it!
All you have to do is get that floral dress out of the back of your closet (I know it´s there! Come on, we all have one from a couple summers ago…) and put together a look with a jeans item (jacket, shorts, pants) or anything hipster style… And there you go! Canadian street stylish you are! Well, at least from my Brazilian-recent-landed immigrant perspective! =)
There are so many interesting styles out in the streets of Toronto, I just have to take pictures some day and show you!
